Green Burial

Green burial is one of the most meaningful and misunderstood options in funeral service - and one of the least available in western North Carolina. Into Our Kare offers it.

Clay Bruggeman has direct, hands-on experience performing green burial services. If you have been searching for a funeral provider in this region who truly understands natural burial, call us.

What Is Green Burial?

Green burial - also called natural burial - is the simplest, most ecological way to return a loved one to the earth. It is how humans have been buried for most of history, and it is growing rapidly as families look for an alternative that is more meaningful, more affordable, and far gentler on the environment.

In a green burial:

  • The body is not embalmed with chemical preservatives
  • No concrete vault or grave liner is used
  • The casket or shroud is fully biodegradable - wood, wicker, cardboard, or natural cloth
  • The body returns to the earth naturally, completing the cycle of life
  • The burial site is marked simply - a native plant, a stone, or a GPS-referenced natural marker

Green Burial in Western North Carolina

Green burial remains rare in western North Carolina. Most families who want it either don't know it's available locally or assume they'd have to travel to Asheville or the Research Triangle. Into Our Kare is one of very few providers in this region with actual, hands-on green burial experience - and we serve Gaston County, Cleveland County, and Lincoln County.

If you are considering green burial for yourself or a loved one, we can walk you through exactly what is involved, what it costs, and how the process works. Call us to start that conversation.
